Process
P-Squared Capital Management is governed by process-driven decision making.
We construct portfolios by using a combination of fundamental, technical and quantitative tools. Fundamental analysis highlights the price being paid for the cash being generated by a company. Technical analysis highlights the relative strength, momentum, and accumulation or distribution of a security at different price levels. And quantitative analysis highlights the factors that lead to greater or lesser price swings of a security relative to the market as a whole.
We are highly disciplined and laser focused on our process of identifying and monitoring investment opportunities in each asset class. For fixed income investments we select those instruments best suited for yield with the least probability of loss over a time horizon appropriate for your portfolio. For alternative investments we mostly use Exchange Traded Funds (ETF's) or specific company securities that allow for exposure to markets that produce a positive investment return with lower correlation to your other assets. And for equities, we invest in specific companies that offer the opportunity for capital appreciation and are appropriately priced, or use ETF's for broad market exposure.
Since most of our investments, whether equities, fixed income, or alternatives, are in individual companies, we have in place a system for following earnings and news announcements, as well as tracking changes in analysts' price targets and their level of conviction. We study relative values amongst industry competitors. And we examine how a security's price is changing in the market over different periods of time.
We make informed decisions based upon a process of gathering information on a timely basis and using our judgement as to the relevant factors that should drive a security's price.
We strive to find and invest in the best companies, in the best sectors of the market at the best time.
We follow a universe of about 800 highly visible companies and focus on management teams that have a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality earnings. We look for winning strategies that create shareholder value. And we look to invest when the price is right.
We also follow and use leading ETF's so that portfolios have exposure to markets or sectors of the market on a cost efficient basis.
